Punta Bermeja Natural Protected Area

 

 A general and bio-diversified description:

 

A zone of cliffs of approximately 30 metres in height (vegetation-free), rocky platforms and beaches. Typical dune vegetation. Cliffs heavily populated by ravine parrot nests (Cyanoliseus patagonus) (an outstanding biological phenomenon).

Egreat grebe (Podiceps major), Neotropic cormorant (Phalacrocorax olivaceus), Great egret (Egretta alba), Cocoi heron (Ardea cocoi), Cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis), Chilean flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis), black-necked swan (Cygnus melanocorypha), Yellow-billed pintail (Anas georgica), Silver teal (A. versicolor), Kelp gull (Larus dominicanus), Brown-hooded gull (Chroicocephalus maculipennis), Olrog´s gull (L. atlanticus), South-American tern (Sterna hirundinacea) and Snowy-crowned tern (S. trudeaui) make their presence felt.

An important reproductive site of South american sea-lion (Otaria flavescens) (an outstanding biological phenomenon).We can also enjoy the presence of the marine-elephant Mironga leonine and the Killer whale Orcinus Orca.

“Punta Bermeja” is a provincial fauna reserve of 200 ha. Where numerous touristical activities are carried out.
