Who we are

The Natural Patagonian Foundation is a non-governmental organisation, founded in July, 1989, that promotes the perpetuity of wildlife species and protects the Patagonian environment by favouring resource and eco-system responsible management.The Foundation’ home-office is in “Puerto Madryn”, but it has representatives in Trelew, Viedma, West San Antonio, “Deseado” Port, Río Gallego and Ushuaia.

 

 

What we do

To be able to act in an efficient and co-ordinated manner, Natural Patagonian developed the following functions:

Management: before official, private and non-governmental (NGO’s) organisms, acting as mediators or facilitators, diffusing information, generating opinions and recommendations. In provincial, council and national environment.

Environmental education: consisting of a formal and no-formal action of education. Human resources capacitation, environmental interpretation and numerous publications, including various sectors of the community.

Investigation: in aspects connected to the bio-diversity of the region and its protection: fauna, fishing, tourism, contamination and protected areas.

It is carried out with the idea of back-up, monitoring and cause for conservation.How we do itThis functions work within various programmes and projects that understand the environmental problems of the region.


The “action” is centred in prevention, even though reality, in some cases, asked for continuous intervention in the solving of some environmental conflicts.

Since the beginning, FPN has carried out more than 40 projects and has produced many scientific and educative publications.


Work areas: environmental education, communication, contamination, wildlife, fishing, protected areas, responsible tourism, public participation, legal matters, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, soil and vegetation and new projects.


FPN also maintains a wildlife haven, “La Esperanza” and the whale observation point “Punta Flecha”.

FPN also counts on a permanent volunteer team.

 

 

Why we do it

FPN strives to conserve and protect the Patagonian wildlife. We aim to achieve a better quality of life. Our belief is that a healthy environment is part of each human being. We are convinced that the conservation of the diversity of the zone and the functioning of the eco-systems demands nature management based on precaution and transparency.


We are inspired by an estetic vision, scientific knowledge and the conviction that each person holds a better conscience of the future graded by his/her participation in a society educated in respect and responsibility.
